I also have 1 more problem..

You know the red gradiant, when a window is flashing (window alert). Well, sometimes it gets stuck on that, and won't go away, no matter how many times I click on the window, minimize, bring back up, etc. I think that moving it to another desktop and back works though. - Jan 10 2012

I LOVE this theme! Thank you so much for your work!

I do however have 1 problem which is really annoying me!

When I hover over an item in the taskbar, it turns yellow. This occurs only when I have a window minimized. I also have kwin effects turned off if that helps any.

Ah. Ya, it was checked. I figured I could get some speed improvements with it checked, I didn't know it was causing the crashes though.

I unchecked it and went back to OpenGL. Maybe now it'll work properly now that that option is unchecked.

I guess we'll see; and if not, I can try xrender again. :) - Dec 18 2011

Be-Shell/Bespin by thomas12777 1662 comments

Kubuntu 11.10 with KDE 4.7.4. I'm using the latest stable point releases in the Kubuntu package repository*. This is only Bespin (no BeShadowed, except for the fact that it may now be built into Bespin in KDE 4.7.x I think).

* ppa:kubuntu-ppa/ppa - https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/ppa

Anyways, thanks for your help! Using effects, even with xrender still crashes KDE and X for me, so I'll have to do without compositing. More specifically, it keeps crashing everytime I move the mouse to exit the screensaver.. - Dec 18 2011

Hi, you're right! xrender works better than I had imagined. Time will only tell whether this will workaround the crashing problem or not.. But it seems to work well still.

After doing the steps you mentioned, (env variable in ~/.kde/env, and using xrender), I noticed a few more bugs.

The glassy window effect goes back to the background color, and the glassy color over some elements (noticed this in dolphin and systemsettings, but kate looks OK).

And some more of the weird edges we were talking about earlier. I have some screenshots of it.

> Compositing doesn't work for you?
It works, but it brings out bugs in my Intel (i915) driver, which consistently crashes X and KDE, loosing all my work. :(

Also, as a note, after updating KDE to 4.7.x, new distro (Kubuntu 11.10), and new kernel (3.x), the weird thing where the glassy effect on windows kept going over the elements of the window, is gone. :) - Dec 16 2011

I'd also like to note that the widget Lancelot launcher has some weird black things as well, but it seems to have these things no matter whether the decoration has them or not (after my temporary fix of going into the system settings). I don't know if it's related to Bespin or not.

After a little more testing, it seems the only reason Firefox was "unaffected" was because it was fullscreened at the time. If I fullscreen an app that's in the "white block" state, and unfullsreen it, it goes back to round.

So everything is affected as it "should" be, so nevermind about the Firefox thing. - Dec 16 2011

Thanks for the prompt reply!

The problem seems to still exist for me (I can see it after I reboot again).

When I go into the system settings now, and click on "workspace appearance", the decoration switches from black (first screenshot in first post) to complete white* in all windows***, I pressed close, and when I open any windows now, it's back to normal**, until another reboot. When the window is in the "white block" state, right before it closes, it changes to round edges for a split second as well.

Hopefully that helps.. Let me know if you need/want anything else. :)

I'm getting some weird black edges on my windows.

Screenshot: http://wstaw.org/m/2011/12/16/snapshot36.png

My config file can be found here: http://pastebin.com/TDDaDL5Q

Some specific settings are:
* KWin compositioning is disabled. (As far as I know, this only happens when compositioning is disabled)

Note:
* This problem seems to only show up after a restart. If you change enough bespin settings, it seems to go away until the next restart.
* Perhaps related to my custom air theming?

Any idea why this happens, and how to fix it? I deleted my bespin configuration, and redid it completely, and I also recompiled the binaries from scratch, all to no avail.. - Dec 16 2011

Hi, I'm getting some problems for some reason, that weren't happening for me on KDE 4.6, but is happening on 4.7. What's going on is, that some of the colors actually aren't going black like they used to in KDE 4.6.

This one shows that hovering over a menu is white, but should be black.
http://wstaw.org/m/2011/10/17/snapshot6.png

This one only shows up with active tabs on tab bars on dialogs with inverted colors.
http://wstaw.org/m/2011/10/17/snapshot7.png

And by the way, remember the glass window effect clipping problem I told you about one time, which was supposedly related to an Intel graphics card. The problem seems to be completely gone for me in KDE 4.7. :)
