gtk apps aren't natively supported (this is a qt - i.e. 'competitive' toolkit - style) but only via the gtk-qt style for gtk apps that utilizes qt styles on gtk apps long story short: support isn't granted here (but there are various native osx alike styles for gtk) - Oct 04 2005

... crap. of course religion is not science - no matter what anyone says - to believe != to know (ok, knowledge is illusion, but a least science honors this ;) however, this apps function is to handle the bible. now it's up to the user if he does it in a scientific or religious way. if you want to discuss (and a scientific handling of religions, "why, how, what, when, core facts, philisophic aspect" will allways end up discussing) with a fundamentalist, you have to operate on his basics. it's also a good source to unterstand how people control other ppl. by fear (e.g. the "anti terror" policy of the us and some european govs. has many religion like aspects) conclusion: tools are never good or bad, they hae no gain. you can use a hammer to kill someone or just get a nail into a wall so calm down on this and use the tool in your way ("know your enemy" ;) - Sep 12 2005

no, style for the trolltech toolkit (qt) only - also the application must make use of the style (as e.g. opera does not, as it has it's own internal style engine) however gtk2 apps can make use ot gtkl-qt, a gtk style that calls the qt styles, but i do not guarantee for proper funcionality (i use a lot of qt specific stuff to move towards the mac design) - Aug 17 2005

it's not /that/ hard to implement 1st off: keep your fingers away from kompmgr.c - it's no way related 2. the right place is kwins evenmanager if (LMB) if (METABUTTON) if (opacity < 0xFFFFFF) for (all clients above in stack) if (windowTitle.contains(LMB.pos())) client.bring_up() else don't do anything() //don't dare to pass the meta'd LMB to the top window- could cause whatever as you can see you don't even have to operate on X event queue regards - Jul 28 2005

control external tv apps: http://nxtvepg.sourceforge.net/xiccc-proto.html but i don't know what apps besides xawtv support it (i'll look for tvtime) kwintv afaik supports dcop, so shouldn't be a big deal (if you need help on dcop - ask ;) unfortunatel the nextvepg tcp/ip protocol is not designed like e.g. a http server/client protocol (it's binary, so even not inter compiler compatible), so this won't work (unfortunately) i'll try to find another way for better interaction with nxtvepg (as reloading a 3mb file freaks me out ;) - Jul 27 2005

ok, i temporarily hel myself by dumping the nxtvepg data into a xml file, but: all times are outranged by two houres (i'm GMT+1 + daylight saving) so i assume you're not mapping times? (tvtime works perfect) next: i'd like to see the date selection combo as replacemetn for the date label, showing the date like the label does (i snap away the configure stuff usually, but wanna be able to change date easily ;) then: it would be great if you#d allow to trigger tv app commands by clicking the entry (nxtvepg does so for xawtv but having this configurable would allow me to use other apps as kwintv or tvtime) last: when i find the time i'm gonna write and upload a simple class to query the nxtvepg daemon - Jul 21 2005

1st off: i assume the window is translucent and you see a WP shining through I hope you're running some compmgr, or does qt utilize it's own COMPOSITE access (i'm asking as xaa composite fails on multiple access, i.e. you won't be able to run a external compmgr for shadows and non qt4 apps and i still don't see kaa being used too much) - Jul 20 2005

try ./configure --prefix=$HOME/.kde --disable-debug --enable-final if the system is valid configured (especially QTDIR exported) everything should work fine. if you're missing the qt/kde headers, you're pretty f****, as long as you don't want to create a completely local kde. btw: most universities restrict the permittance to install software locally - if not by technical limitations (what's hardly possible), then by a user greement you signed, so be carefull on this - May 12 2005

doesn't matter. i fixed that meanwhile (in juk) and reported the bug/fix if you compile juk yourself: systemtray.cpp contains a class FlickerFreeLabel. Its drawContents(QPainter *p) function calls a function with undefined return (as the BackgroundMode was set to NoBackground) replace line: pixPainter.fillRect(rect(), paletteBackgroundColor()); with: pixPainter.fillRect(rect(), qApp->palette().brush( QPalette::Active, QColorGroup::Background )); and you're done - May 09 2005

JuK problem (probably) in most cases this happens due to a call to an depreached qt function that assumes the background is a plain color (not the case on baghira/liquid or any pixmap background) i'll try to fix and bugreport this to scott. btw: please use the sf.net bug tracker for things like this - May 09 2005

yes, make a local install - but that may be harder. you must select the install location of the style library manually (usually ~/.kde/libs/plugins/styles) and also tell the configure script where to find your system headers and libraries also these libs and (especially) headers must be installe on your system. it's possible in general, but you should have some basic understanding of *nix and compilation i never tried toinstall a style locally, but if you need help, i can try and publish a HowTo - May 09 2005

from baghira.sf.net/bugs
=============================
However, I am using a SuSE 9.1 and discovered this:

apparently, the 'appropriate' script to start open office is
(example of the spreadsheet) /usr/X11R6/bin/OOo-calc. I
read the script and found that it actually
invokes /opt/OpenOffice.org/program/scalc, after of course
doing lots of checks and setting a bunch of variables.

I tried to invoke /opt/OpenOffice.org/program/scalc directly
(without dcop) and it worked...

Don't misunderstand me: without baghira (which by the way
is a great piece of work!) both scripts work, and with baghira
only the 'unwrapped' one works.
================================
and

A workaround that works for me on SuSE 9.1:

use the option: --widgets-set default

For instance, to invoke the word processor:

yes, you need 3.3 to have this work correctly
(i changed menus to stipple look before, but that conflicted with the new kicker abilities)
so best upgrade kde (if you can't or don't want, i can try to make a workaround in the next version, but upgrading kde is superior) - Sep 22 2004

use the top menu in a top kicker panel (using the menu applet from kde or baghira) and it will align to the kicker background (translucen, bg pixmap color whatever)
kicker itself is button colored by default, you can overwrite this saying "custom color" in the kicker group of the config dialog (read the help, if unsure) - Sep 21 2004
