Yes, it doesn't work with 0.35, and I'm not fixing it until 0.35 is final, as it can't work with both 0.34 and 0.35 (afaik).

You have to exit or reload the theme to save it. Just closing a kde session will not save the configuration data.

Yes. Use "search for location on weather.com" in the configure menu. Don't use BBC, as it it broken at the moment - but I've found someone to fix it.

KDE 3.3 Question????

KDE Plasma Screenshots by Louis 4 comments

This happened to me on an install using konstruct. However, I think it was caused by the fact that it seemed to build against my existing version of QT, rather than the newly compiled version. I never found a solution. I now have kde3.3.0 installed via rpm. To be honest the difference compared to kde3.2.3 isn't significant to be worried about upgrading (imho).

How are you finding stability. On my mdk box, X crashes frequently with xcompmgr running. Also, when I rebooted, my keyboard driver went very funny. So I'm back to 6.7.0, and hoping things get a bit more stable for the final release.

I find it very hard to believe that this would have any effect on other applications. I can understand how it would affect another SK theme, if you launched it from the liquid weather theme, using the "open new theme" option. However, I can't see how it could affect other unrelated apps. It certainly doesn't affect the apps I use.

How are you launching the gimp?

You don't need a four digit code, just use the configure menu to search for the city/location. If it's found, it'll load the weather. If it doesn't load it, then you've probably his a parsing bug. Send me the location via email, and I'll try to debug it.

I'll check this when I get home. However, some weather stations are in nearby locations. There is an option to display your city in the configure menu. I think it's under "display alternative location".

This is normally caused by using an SK binary not built against the right python version. However, this doesn't make sense on a gentoo system (assuming you've compiled everything from source). Please advise python version, and SK version. Also send the output from a console when you run lw++

To make your configuration stick, you'll need to close the theme before ending a kde session. That's when it writes to the config file - a superkaramba issue.

Tell me what city you're using, and I'll check the hourly forecast issue.

Can you email me with translations of the static text in the theme (ie on the face of the widget, and in any drop-down elements (menus, and the like). That way I can keep track of it. I need to work on a structure that allows me to plug this stuff in, but I'll think about that.

Yes. SK get's it's transparent window by taking a screen shot of the root window of the window manager. If you don't have kwin or kdesktop running, it won't work. Look on the forums on netdragon.sourceforge.net to see if anyone's got a fix for this.

Karamba & Superkaramba by Matti 1794 comments

Making the theme multi-lingual is a massive task. The xml feed used is in English. As far as I'm aware, there is no option for a multi-lingual feed. Therefore, there would need to be manual translations of each weather phrase by people who spoke the relevant language. The static text would be much easier to do. However, I'm not able to speak any languages other than English. Therefore, I am not qualified to do this. No one else has volunteered to spend the time necessary to do the translations. Do you want to volunteer?

The most likely cause is that you've installed superkaramba with an RPM or other binary package not designed for your distro, or distro version. If you compile superkaramba from source, you will likely find this problem fixed.

Are you sure that it's not downloading? Or is it downloading, but not displaying the weather because of a parsing bug. Can you please send me the output if you run it from konsole.

Also, go to a console and type:

python

then:

from urllib2 import urlopen

then:

test = urlopen('http://www.kde-look.org').read()

then:

print test

If this prints the html for kde-look, then your ok, and it's a parsing problem. Tell me what city you're trying to access?

These are the Canadian cities covered by weather.com:

http://www.weather.com/common/drilldown/CA.html?from=search

Seems like quite a lot to me. I don't propose to implement getting info from any more sites. Websites don't like people scraping for info, and weather.com provides an xml feed, which is far more efficient. If you want to implement it, feel free, but l don't have the time or energy at the moment (unless you want to pay me to do it) :).
