This looks great even though I don't need it at the moment.

Would it be possible to add zoom feature...two finger split or even one finger spiral zoom actions?

This of course if the touchpad/hardware supports it.

Thanks! - Jan 15 2010

...kdesudo works!

This is how I got it to work...
On Command: kdesudo modprobe wl
Off Command: sudo modprobe -r wl

with kdesudo in the off command it wouldn't turn it off. I imagine though, that since my password was already entered for kdesudo it remains open for 10-15 minutes (I can't remember the length). That is why it just works this way.

However, I believe if it has been longer than 15 minutes and the password is closed then the sudo...command to turn it off won't work. I don't have time to test it.

Also, could you please add a box in the settings to add a "Name" for the switch. If I add multiple switches I don't know what is what. Something that if it is in the panel, on mouse hover it would show the name. And if it is on the desktop, then it could show the name above/below it.

(I will have to test having my internal wifi card turned on for more than 15 minutes and see if the sudo...command will turn it off. My guess is no). - Dec 04 2009
Sorry if I caused some confusion. NO, I'm not able to run a sudo command with this. I should have been more clear in that this is a question.

That sudo command is what I run in konsole (without the quotes).

My questions; is this possible to do somehow with this on/off plasmoid? I would be cool with it if it popped up a window to enter in my password. Just so this holds and executes the command after it is entered.

Thanks - Dec 03 2009
I just tried and it doesn't do anything. I am trying to set the command to turn on/off my wifi card(s) in my laptop.

One is internal and the other is a express card. The only way I have found to turn them on/off is with:

On: "sudo modprobe wl"
Off: "sudo modprobe -r wl"

That is my internal on in my dell laptop. Why the KDE wifi manager doesn't have this built in is beyond me.

Thanks Emdek! That fixed the problem of it centering. Oddly enough, It also fixed the Stasks "auto expand current" application. Probably because fancytask was intruding in to the stasks area.

Positive review from me for the only functional application launcher for KDE 4.x.

Keep up the good work! - Aug 06 2009
Can we please get this updated for 4.3? When it is in a panel it centers itself in the space between other applets. Very annoying.

I gave this a good vote because it can be used as a launcher even though I cannot use it in KDE 4.3 beta 2. I keep getting plasma crash. This one happened after checking the option "Only Show Launchers"

Can we get this updated for 4.3 please? It doesn't "expand" when set to active anymore.

Thanks - Aug 04 2009
EDIT: The peek is working (just different from what you know from the original task manager).

This is what I did, I logged out and then back in. Opened up the KDE system settings>>Desktop>>All Effects>>Highlight Window>>Unchecked and applied setting. Then Rechecked "Highlight Window" and applied the setting.

Went down to my task bar on Stasks and went over my opened windows. I noticed that the peek wasn't working when I went over a window that was in the background. So I moved the mouse up over the window thumbnail and peek worked!

So the key is to move the mouse over the window thumbnail to get peek!

It is different from just moving the mouse over the taskbar of the window. But it works! Hope that helps!

Thanks SteveMcQwark for this patch! - Jul 08 2009
I got this one to install and it shows up (previous patch version wasn't showing up). I am also having the same problem with peek not working.

During "make" I got this error at the end of it:

mgraesslin...good job on creating this theme-able kwin manager!!! Do you plan add more options and functionality?

I would like to see*:
- Text alignment (left, center, right) for the application name in the titlebar.
- Option to set round corners
- Options to change the width of the the borders and titlebar.
- Options to change the transparency of the borders and titlebar**
- And an option to change the images of the borders and buttons***

* I realize these may not even be possible with the limitations of kwin and/or being able to code these in.

** As it is now, KDE allows you to change the "translucency" of the window decorations. But setting it too low, causes the application name and buttons to be transparent as well making them hard to see. This needs to be an independent setting to allow the name and buttons to not be set with transparency.

***More functional without being restricted to what the theme is. These could be separate border themes and button themes to make it more customizable.

Some of these are already available in Crystal, Dekorator, Nitrogen, and a few others.

Thanks and good job again! - Jul 03 2009
I had to log out, delete my .kde folder and then logged back in to make it work. Thanks - Jul 03 2009

As noted, it is incorporated into the KDE 4.3 beta 2 default task manager. And its not a compositing (kwin or compiz) feature. Hovering over the open program on the taskbar will make said window go transparent. I'm not a coder, but maybe looking at the default task manager would help implement this in your patched version. do I get window peeking to work with this patch? I have built it and its installed. But no peeking is working??? - Jun 23 2009

First off, good job on creating this plasmoid. I have been trying this and the "Fancytasks" plasmoid out on my KDE 4.3 beta 2 and this is the only one that doesn't crash plasma.

I hope this is still being developed because it needs further improvement and features. As others have noted, it needs to have some kind of app launcher (Fancytasks has it).

Also, I have finally found a solution to the Gimp showing all windows in the taskbar. Using this Stasks with grouping "on," and a "Specific window" setting for the "Layers" window...all 3 windows (Toolbox, Main Gimp window, and Layers) are all grouped in to one tab in this Stasks!!!

However, a few bugs...I found that you have to set the Gimp window management setting for both Toolbox and other Docks to "Window" mode for this to work. And even then after starting up Gimp, if you minimize the "Layer" window it will detach itself from the Stasks Gimp group and be out on its own.

Right clicking>>"Do not group", then "Group" again sets itself back to being grouped and will stick. Closing gimp, and restarting it however loses this setting. I believe it is a bug in Stasks. But it is a step in the right direction in terms of fixing the gimp failure. And will actually show in the tooltip, along with switch to that window if clicked on!

Also, add features like "Fancytask" to use middle mouse button to minimize and show windows as well as middle click to close.

Thank you! - Jun 23 2009
