Dependency errors:
libgtk-3-dev
depends on: libxcursor-dev, libxfixes-dev (>= 1:3.0.0-3), libxcomposite-dev (>= 1:0.2.0-3), libxdamage-dev (>= 1:1.0.1-3)
There is a chance of course that my sources are totally bungled. ;)
Too bad, I am so looking forwar to an alternative to the adwaita engine. - Jun 02 2011

I'm shure there are other people out there using gnome-shell on natty (or some other distribution without available alpha(?) gtk3 engines on it) who still want their gtk2 and gtk3 apps at least matching.
And I just think that "made of easy" and gnome-shell kindof go well together. - Jun 01 2011

As I said: I'm really looking forward to what the pro does. For now this patchwork does allright, don't you think? Plus it works on natty+gnome-shell repos without any more hassle.
But I'll definately keep my eyes on the egkt launchpad. ;) - Jun 01 2011

I am using Arimo Bold 9 for the titlebar right now: no cropping. Even with 8 it still works well. Ubuntu 9 works fine, too.

I myself prefer the firefox 4 beta, to be honest. Something about chromium or google-chrome just doesn't feel right for me.
I like the theme. Usually, if I do use chromeium, I have it set to "use gtk+ theme and colors" and "use system title bar", but this would also do well. - Dec 11 2010

I know it's bright - it's called milk for a reason. But it works well with adjusted colors (right now I'm using #CCCCCC as background myself).
I did try to pay attention to those weird details like progress-bars looking properly, evolution working properly, tabs looking good and not having ugly selected backgrounds, buttons being good in apps, menu-bars, tool-bars, gimp and Firefox, ...
If you have advice for improvements, please let me know. Focus is on keeping it smooth and consistent throughout the applications.
One thing I haven't manged to get working as I'd like:
I'd love to get the single-line-entry fields to look like the breadcrumb-bar. Right now I haven't gotten around the background of them being drawn above the background pixmaps (ugly white box over them). So if you know this specific problem, please drop me a line. - Dec 10 2010

Try downloading it again, maybe?
I'll put it on another mirror, too, in a second. - Nov 27 2010

Am still using the theme myself. Used to not like total conversions all that much, and I had a mac back in the days when they were still ppc.
Now using this theme, and cairo-dock and the indicator-appmenu I am actually very VERY happy with the way this gnome desktop mimics one of the nices (not the best! it has it's flaws) desktops there is.
I am very much thinking about ditching the appmenu again. But it seems to be the only way to get rid of the menubar in all apps (evolution has no option, gajim doesn't ...). But it's utter crap with the sloppy focus I so much like ever sind fvwm2 was "the new experimental shit!". :D
So: parts I do want to still improve:
The sliders on the ranges are a tad big for my taste. The buttons in firefox should not all use the hover effect (looks a tad stupid) and... well, everything else I am rather satisfied. Might convert it to a graphite set.
You sir, provided me with a perfect basis to macify my gnome! Thanks. - Nov 07 2010

In the zip you find two tar.gz files.
i.e. "eGtk Leopard.tar.gz"
These could be called "theme archives" and can usually be installed using the ui's theme manager.
Or you can just put the unpacked directory "eGtk Leopard" or any other theme in the directory "/home/youusername/.themes/" for personal use, or "/usr/share/themes/" for system wide use. The later will require you to sudo to copy to that directory.
I hope you can figure it out from here. - Nov 04 2010

Goto your Win2-7 Icon theme folder.
Find anything status related (i.e. the whole "status" folder).
Rename the folder/files to something like _folder (i.e. "_status"), so the icon-theme-system won't find the file in here.
Next edit the index.theme file in the icon theme's main directory and add the line:
Inherits=Faenza-Dark
in a new line after the "Name=Win2-7 5.8" (or whatever you currently have installed.)
Save this, go to the appearance properties -> theme -> adjust -> icons -> chose something else and back to win2-7 to apply this.
Now what this does is: If the theme-engine can't find an icon with the proper name within the theme, it will look in any theme this one inherits from. Defaulting back to gnome-standard-theme if none found at all.
It's pretty neat to mix an match themes. :) - Oct 24 2010
What makes firefox look even better than that scaling I did:
cd ....../Macbuntu-Icons/actions/
cp gtk/media-playlist-repeat.png scalable/view-refresh.png
I'm not quite shure if this breaks anything else, but firefox... well:
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9262/bildschirmfotocz.png
I quite like it this way. - Oct 11 2010
Well the GTK theme is not quite to my liking, I'm using something selfmade/assembled/collected/hacked. ;)
But the icon-theme is just wonderfully complete and matching.
Just one tiny issue I might want to take a look at, and you might as well: the reload page button in firefox does not get scaled to the correct proportions (too large?).
But honestly - this is a themepack I really enjoy. Many thanks to the authors! - Oct 11 2010

GnoMenu Skins by juandejesuss 14 comments
I am not shure if this is even a theme issue, as it seems to be this way no matter what gtk theme or gnomenu theme I am using:
http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/9641/screenshotit.png
As you can see, the height for the highlighted entry is 'weird'.
Somehow it is neither centered nor is there any spacing. Can you confirm this? Should this work and look properly?
gnomenu version: 2.8.0-0~ppa1
Thanks. - Jul 07 2010

Altho that makes me run into various problems, like the panel not doing it's thing properly... looks like the bg pixmap starts over at every app and the notification area... *weird* But I do prefer a single-top-panel anyways. I guess thats not your fault but my "do it yourself habbit" :D
But lots and lots and lots of nice material you provide :) - Jun 13 2010

One thing that isn't done (you might want to look into when polishing once more):
chat-client status icons.
Especially the ones for pidgin (requires chaning of icons in system folders '/usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/tray/highcolor/'). I do believe this is still the far more often used chatclient around.
Well, for myself I adopted quite a bit of your work into my 'elementary/win7 mix" (yes, blasphemy!) that I do not publish because it's all stolen. *g*
Keep up the very good and entertaining work! - Jun 13 2010

Good themes shine by being
a) recognized - I usually sort once by "newest" and once by "highest rated" if I look for something fresh.
b) maintained and bugfixed.
Bumping is something to do in gaming boards where everyone flames oneanother anyways and other low-netiquette areas of the internet. In any proper, quality surrounding visited by rather witted persons that like the content, this is looked really badly upon.
So don't think your theme sucks if you look at the rating, it doesn't actually.
You way of promoting however is a rude and very unpolite offence towards the visitors and the other artists/programmers.
So, word of advice: DONT BUMP. - Jun 11 2010

GTK2 Themes by LordPickle 22 comments
If you update the content, please, pretty please, start a versioning numbering and add a changelog, no matter how mini the change, it will show a) that you maintain this, and b) WHAT it is you are doing.
thanks. - Jun 11 2010
Might look even more consistent if they followed the style of the breadcrumbs elements.
You have highly beveled buttons, yet flat tabs, gradient menubar and sunken-border breadcrumbs and flat window-bar-buttons.
I know it's a matter of taste and I am 'just another griper' - but wanted to give some constructive critique instead of just stating the obvious: "One of the absolutely best gnome-themes around."
Thanks. - Jun 05 2010
So going the slow way of group-button -> window button is... cumbersome? or more cumbersome as it would have to be.
Still - I love the app. love it! - Jun 05 2010
About the only feature that I could imagine to mage this better is the ability to pick "roll up" or "shade window" or whatsitcalled as an action, as I am actually working with this. ;)
But it's great and definately worth using as it is.
Whats a comment without some "uh, but can it do..." kind of line, eh? - Jun 04 2010

Somehow empathy manages to still feel like a testing-release. It's just that so many many simple options that one knows from just about any gnome-application are missing. Just like "hide menubar". This causing a ridiculously wide window is just... Well it's not a functionality issue, empathy is great in that aspekt. But it's an UI issue.
In gconf theres nothing...
And so far my google has not been strong on this one...
Love the pidgin version of it. Did not manage to get empathy to use the theme. (ubuntu 10.4, elementary icons) - Jun 03 2010
