"child panels" often behave as individual apps (e.g. if they're common usable plugins) and are therefore polished at startup.
so if the style is set to aqua look at this moment, you get them aqua like.

for the moment, you'll have to set the style to bm if you want the panels bm...

1. pure opengl is _not_ the proper framework for providing this.
2. making use of the hardware needs a bottom up chain from
renderSystem (xfree) -> toolkit (qt)
this is allmost nothing about the style.
3. i could only use oGL to scale and blend images, as i do neither scale nor blend any images at runtime, it's useless and would not improve render or display speed.
4. because of (1) - before you ask: try starting to 3ddeskd and eg celestia at the same time... - Jun 08 2004

KDE 3.5 Themes by thomas12777 1258 comments

There's no shadow (i use the same pixmaps as for the combos) - but perhaps i could add some...

mouseover is a problem. afaik no style yet managed that, as the tabs (not even qwidgets) don't emit events - so i do simply not know if or even when the cursor enters a new tab.

i think mosfet hacked a bit to provide this for the listview headers, but:
1. the function is not perfect (try after horizontal scrolling)
2. i'm not sure if i can use this for the tabs as well. - Jun 07 2004

KDE 3.5 Themes by thomas12777 1258 comments

I know about and somehow fixed the kwin stuff.

About the shadow patch:
first: you don't have to recompile everything - kdelibs/kdefx and kdebase/kwin is enough (lasts about 5 minutes on my machine :)
second: the current patch (kdefx part) is somewhat hackish and causes can cause errors on repolishment (modifying style settings) be careful! - Jun 07 2004

KDE 3.5 Themes by thomas12777 1258 comments

about "generic icon":
be sure to have copied the bab icons into your icon directory (i currently don't install unrequested icons to your system)
usually it should display a black or white rect if it doesn't find an icon, but if it draws the generic system icon, you of course won't see any changes.
About kdevelop:
if it shows the old style, this means you had it running since before you reinstalled baghira - it therefore still uses the old engine, that doesn't know any brushed metal stuff.
simply restart it (killall -9 kdevelop to become it's really dead)
that should help - Jun 07 2004
Baghira

KDE 3.5 Themes by thomas12777 1258 comments

what do you mean: "don't get brushed"?
if it starts in aqua mode, start bab and set it to brushed metal mode (black icon)
the idea is to allow a hybrid desktop.
as long as you don't switch the mode via bab, any app will start brush metaled.
it's also possible to control bab via dcop - Jun 07 2004

for windecos:
the baghira windeco allready has this.
set deco style to brushed metal (though the gradient is only 512px wide)

so obviously yes: it is possible - Jun 02 2004
Brushed Metal style background proposal

Various Stuff by gg3po 9 comments

1. loading pngs is slow compared to use a statically linked pixmap - so currently no.
2. translucent pixmaps would lead to a completely black area, as qt/xfree cannot (due to xfree) handle the alpha channel this way (you wouldn't get a translucent window by this anyway, as every widget would draw it and you'd partially loose translucency - but that's illusionary with x anyway)

but this brush will be an option in one of the next (ok, the next) baghira release

err.. ok - what exactly do you mean?
(i mean - where are the differences between smootstrpies/ae and original osx - besides the stripes, which you can deactivate?)
the only different thing i see, are the beveled menuindicators.
liquid had something like that, but i removed the by user request (and it'd be really easy to bring such indicators - look at the kicker startmenu headers)

the other most wanted thing is apples choser.
well, qt _has_ no choser (the button like tabs) but i could make the tabs look like this - with uncertain results on the l'n'f of some tabbars
if this is really wanted, i'd make a test release of it (0.3q2 =)

not seen yet - anyway i don't have a 64bit machine yet.

it could be
a) to the compiler
b) to the xserver (graphics driver)

do you have an nVidia card / closed source driver (that's ok, but be careful with the 5xxx generation, if you don't have a GForce 5 or 6)

try to up/downgrade the driver in this case.

as the error occurs to the qt drawTiledPixmap function, there may also be a problem with your qt version (or the compiled binaries)

and please tell me about your progress
(mail me)

Thanks - Jun 01 2004

OK, guys.
Again:

Apple's brushed metal looks really cool
- agree!

But:
it looks cool, because it has a nice light effect.
this is not possible with current XFree (at least not at acceptable cpu use)
poit.
just believe it.

BM without the light gradient looks crap.
trust me - i tried it.

if you can provide a pixmap tile at acceptable size (256x256 max) that would look good (without any light effects) - mockup please - i'll use it and provide a nice bm version.

till then:
nope. not. no! =) (sorry)

Hi.
could you please add an dcop interface for movin forward or backward in the currently playing song, so i can control this via my MM keyboard?
(currently i'm using a script that gets the current position via dcop and then sends moves the slider to a specific position depending on the current position, but this doesn't work too good (especially when keeping the attached key pressed)

open a shell (xterm, konsole, etc.)

that's the prefix

The bar on the top is just kicker.
with kde 3.2 you also can add the mac style menu (only on menu on top of the screen) to kicker - that's it
use kxdocker or ksmoothdock as docker replacement

to add stuff to kicker, just rightclick it and add something that sounds good (i could only tell you german app names)
