I prefer your 'ordinary dust theme' which has a black background for the title. Because I like the dust-theme and your theme blends well with it. Could you make a version that combines the two: a black title background (as in the dust theme) and a black glass-like background for the rest (as in your 'ordinary black glass'-theme)
Yes, I know I'm not an easy customer... - Jul 26 2010

It has not been easy, rewriting the new wave-theme, and I'm having problems reducing the space between the buttons. That's why the buttons are the given size.
Anyone familiar with the New Wave Metacity theme and can help me on that issue?

I usually work with pixmaps-themes. These are easier to work with because you can use images to get where you want.
So I'm a bit in the dark here. This is the first time I'm playing with the murrine-theme. And I do not know how to add what you've proposed...

This theme uses the shiki-wise GTK-theme and the new-wave-metacity to get the best compatibility on any application.
There are a lot of theme's out here that fail miserably on that issue. - Mar 07 2010

Could you do the same (placing everything to the left) with my black theme?
I would very much appreciate it... - Jan 08 2010

I've been meddling with Krig's theme and this is the result:

It captures almost exactly my thoughts about this theme here.
I think we should use this work to perfect it even more.

Yet, as I commented, your emerald theme would perhaps look better with the button I made earlier. You will need to adjust the size of my button but I think it would work nicely.
I'm still looking for a good solution for a metacity-theme however...
Thanks for the work you've done already !

The closebutton has an extension at both sides. - Jan 02 2010

So lets see what you can come up with if you use a different metacity theme as the base.
About the buttons: the 'close'-button needs to be just the round button (nothing added to it), in fact each button needs to look good as a stand-alone button, because, as you pointed out already, they sometimes are used seperately.
So, is my mockup possible? I do not think so. You will need to make new graphical buttons that somehow match my mockup, but can be used seperately.
'Why easy when it you can do it in a difficult manner' is a much used phrase in Belgium... - Jan 02 2010

Basically the button-order stays the same (minimize, maximize/restore,close).
For the first button (minimize to the taskbar) you can use the small arrow (pointing down)
For the second button (maximize: you can use the larger arrow pointing upwards/ the restore-button is the same but pointing downwards (you will have to make that too)
The third button is the close-button.
So my mock-up is the situation where the window is maximized, thus showing the 'restore-button'in the midlle (arrow pointing down).
If you have other suggestions please tell me... - Jan 01 2010

I think it would be better with more shade around the buttons (as in the mock-up picture) Also the arrow and the cross should be more 'pressed' into the background.
I'm glad with the work sofar!
But it's not 'finished' as yet...

Yet they do not look anything like the typical mac-buttons.
That's why I would like to see those buttons used in the same manner (with a larger close-button instead) on a metacity theme.
The challenge is in trying to see if it is possible.
So overcome your dislike and show me your ability to make this theme... - Dec 31 2009

The emerald theme needs to be 'imported' by the emerald-theme manager (use synaptic to install this application if you do not have it yet.) - Nov 13 2008

The problem is your GTKRC-theme uses a single window-bg, while the mentioned themes have multiple backgrounds.
This allows them to use a separate background for the menubar. And this is the key to make it blend with the titlebar. - Nov 07 2008

Make sure that you untar the file twice! Because deviantart tars it again...
So after the first untar you get something like 'GoogleGnomePack.tar' Then untar it again, and look then in the file for the GTK-theme. - Oct 29 2008
