Actually, it seems to be a browser specific issue.

It works in Chromium but not in firefox and, most importantly, on the N900 browser. - Jan 25 2010
This looks really nice, and Amarok has been lacking something like this.

One big issue that I have is that with the very latest Amarok from git master (what will become 2.2.3, I have not tested it with other versions) much of the info that is supposed to show just shows up as empty white boxes. For instance, when browsing the collection, artist and album names are fine, but all track names are missing, and in the "current track" view, everything except the album image is missing. - Jan 19 2010

The problem with using the filter in scripts is a known issue, and one I consider a showstopper for soon to ne released Amarok 2.2.2 as it breaks many scripts, including the Librivox script which is included by default, so I am going to try very hard to fix it.

Other than that, this script works very nicely, great work :-)

This should be fixed now. Sorry for taking some time to do this, but BBC changed the format of their feed quite a bit, so I had to make some big changes to the script.

Does it show any error messages when you enable the script?

Try disabling the script in the script manager, restarting Amarok and then enabling it again. At this point, if something is wrong, it should show an error dialog on screen if something goes wrong - Dec 23 2008

I have pretty powerful hardware on the machine where I tested this, so I doubt that is the issue.

For me, the water surface effect looks very different from the wave effect on the bottom. the bottom and that effect fades nicely into the background, the top effect does not. - Feb 20 2009
Thanks for the new release. I have a few comments.

I like the change scenery. The surface effect is not really working well IMO. first of all it seems to move very un-smoothly compared to the water effect on the bottom. Also, it is solid until it disappears in the distance, it needs to fade out, similar to the effect on the bottom.

Other than that, keep up the good work. :-)

No, to be honest I don't know the first thing about 3D modeling. Also, I simply don't have much time to spend on other projects as I am quite deeply involved in Amarok 2.

I hope other people will joining you though, and I am sure they will as this projects seems to have so much potential.

Some more "stuff" on the bottom ( plants, corals, rocks ) that the fish could swim around would be great.

Also, the chest looks very solid and "in your face". I would expect it to look a bit softer being under water. Perhaps just moving it backs a bit would help. - Dec 28 2008
Great work. It still has some rough edges, but with some work, this could turn into something really fantastic!

I am already looking forwards to future versions! :-) - Dec 28 2008

Oh, one more thing. Please change the "X-KDE-PluginInfo-Category" type to "Generic" as it currently shows up in the script manager as a service, which it is not! :-) - Feb 06 2009
I worked with the lead developer of Ampache to create the original Ampache API and Ampache service in Amarok 2. I don't think any of us had imagined this, but I am running the script in Amarok on my desktop, streaming to my laptop right now. It works great. There are already a ton of clients out there that will be able to use this, such as iPhones and Android phones.

One small comment. I tried steaming a Flac file, and that failed. Would it be possible to either make this work, or filter out file types that cannot be streamed from the list? - Feb 06 2009

No, there is no need to change the script. Even though the signal is never emitted, it will still be there to connect to in the final version, so the script will work just fine! :-) - Nov 23 2008
Installing this script is actually even simpler. Just go to the script manager and select "Get More Scripts". Find the script in the list and click install! No need to manually download the package!

Hi, this looks really great, but one thing really bothers me when looking at the info screen.

The large Hard Drive icon and the small icons for each hd device makes the text in the storage device section seem much more indented than the text in all the other sections.

I would suggest completely removing the large HD icon and placing the small device icons more to the left (and thus having the text line up with all the other text), as this would give a more uniform look. - Jun 19 2007

Hi!

I know that there has not been any updates for a while, but I am trying to figure out what to do next! I still really need some feedback about what features people would like to see added!

I actually have a protoype of a pretty nice gesture editor (an app that lets you define new gestures by drawing them on the screen a number of times) but I am having a hard time figuring out how to integrate it with the rest of the app as this requires a completely new file format. Also, once you have defined a nice gesture, where does the graphics to be shown on the screen come from?

I could really need some help developing this app as it is rapidly growin too large for me with my limited free time.

Thats awesome! :-) I was thinking of doing a Gentoo ebuild myself, but I have been to busy coding on the app! :-D

Expect a new release very soon (Tomorrow I hope) with a completely new config system that (for now) allows you to customize the colors and behaviours of the on screen display. - Apr 23 2006
Mainly the nested states and the graphical feedback. - Mar 12 2006
Ok, could I get you to check the contents of /usr/kde/3.4/share/apps/gesture (should contain a pics and a config directory with files in both) and $home/.kde/share/apps/gesture (should just contain config file)

if you are interested in helping me solve this problem, pls mail me at nhnFreespirit@gmail.com (you can mail me an icq number, skype name or msn account name if you prefer) - Nov 02 2005
Do I understand correctly that it crashes when you select the menu entry? - Nov 02 2005
uhm... thats not good :-/

What happens if you select "Show current state actions" from the right click menu of the tray icon?

Are all the images there? - Nov 02 2005
Hi!

I really appreciate the feedback! :-)

I actually much prefer that no button presses at all are involved, as you risk sending some command to the underlying window when you press a button. But this could easily be made into a config option...

I do not understand what you mean that it does not work on the desktop? Have you switched to another virtual desktop or used the Show Desktop Icon on the kicker?

Anyway, I think my next task will be to make the program into a Kicker Applet and making it install properly. An after that comes the quite daunting task of writing a nice config program that can actually help ypu define new gestures.

Freespirit - Oct 15 2005
Thats strange... I tried unpacking the source myself just using tar -xvf and all the files were ok... try redownloading, unpacking and copying the .png files from the fresh download to the graphics directory where you buildt the program.

I other news, I could really use someone to help me package things for releases at it is very obvious that I suck at it! :-P
