I also tried installing from Plasma's "add widgets" menu. The widget browser shows Latte under the "Installed" category, but once again, I don't see any way to actually add it to my desktop. - Apr 02 2017
Just installed this via Discover, but I can't find any way to get it to show on my Plasma desktop on Kubuntu 16.10. I search in "Add widgets" under "Latte" and also under "Dock" but nothing shows. I do the same in the application menu and nothing shows. - Apr 02 2017

The Ubuntu package link goes to a 404, so I tried compiling on Plasma 5, but just get:

CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:11 (include):
include could not find load file:

KDE4Defaults

CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:12 (include):
include could not find load file:

MacroLibrary

CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:17 (kde4_add_plugin):
Unknown CMake command "kde4_add_plugin".

-- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!

Is there any way to use this beautiful plugin any more? - Dec 05 2015

Man I wish this would just get added in KDE by default. I mean we have the explosion effect that I've never seen anyone use and but not this... :| - Feb 14 2013
It's one of the first things I install each time I reinstall my distro(s).

Any chance the darkest setting could be made darker? Ideally the slider would go from 5% (yes, barely visible) brightness to 95%. I don't know the numbers, but right now it looks like it goes from about 25% to 90%

I tried to poke around in the code and find it myself, but having the coding experience of a walrus, it generally fell down in a blubbery heap.

Anyway, thanks for creating this must have, keeps-my-kids-asleep-and-my-spouse-happy plugin. It rocks! :D - Jun 17 2012
Using the version from:
git clone git://anongit.kde.org/scratch/davidedmundson/nightmode
- Mar 16 2012
Working perfectly now on my Chakra install, running KDE 4.8. Love that I didn't even need to log out before the effect showed up in the "All effects" tab.

Thanks again for this very simple, but incredibly handy effect! - Mar 16 2012
Since upgrading from Kubuntu 11.04 to 11.10, my Night Mode just stopped doing anything at all. I grabbed your new code above, recompiled and installed without a problem, but I still don't see any effect. I have darkness turned way down and I've tried changing the keyboard shortcut. No dice.

I am getting a "The following plugins can't be activated: Darken screen for night viewing" popup. This is odd as I've used Nightmode on Kubuntu+FGLRX on this machine before.

Can I do anything to get you more useful information? Night mode is such a crucial plugin to me. I still don't understand how the explode plugin is included by default but not this... - Jan 03 2012

I get compiling breaking saying that kwineffects.h can't be found. In previous versions of Kubuntu this was in kdebase-workspace-dev. This is now replaced in 11.10 by kde-workspace-dev, but kwineffects.h doesn't seem to exist in that file. Helpfully apt-file no longer works either, so I have no idea how to get past this. Any ideas? - Aug 03 2011

1. Amarok - I could probably squeeze a pixel or maybe two taller. I just want to make sure that it's not larger than the other circular icons (devices, notification icon etc).

2. NM - That's likely an error. All I did was change gradients to flat white on the wireless icons. If it's changing sizes (and doesn't in Oxygen) then I've probably just grouped something wrong. I'm working on a wired desktop, and so haven't had as much chance to check that.

Thanks for the heads up! - Oct 26 2010
Can you take a look in ~/.kde/share/apps/desktoptheme/breathe/icons/ and tell me if the files konvesation.svgz and konv_message.svgz are in that folder? - Oct 22 2010
I'd love to help with this, and already have an icon design, but currently kde-pim doesn't support this theming feature. Apparently it's coming with Kontact2 - Oct 20 2010
Yes, the panel gradient still needs work. Most of the work in this, is in the systray icons. Yes they're mainly very similar to Air (except Amarok and Konversation) however in general they're smaller, cleaner, with less gradients and unnecessary details.

I'll keep improving it, especially the panel. :) - Oct 20 2010
The easiest way is to go into System Settings -> Workspace Appearence -> Get new Themes and then type in breathe in the searchbox. Then you can just click install. After that just choose Breathe as your theme. Earlier version had some packaging issues, but should be ok now.

NOTE: Some icons (especially network manager) seem to take a while to update. I'm guessing it's a cache thing, but if you click on another theme and then back on breath + apply a few times the icon cache is eventually cleared. - Oct 20 2010

I'd love to see a version this size, too. :)

It's such a great image that it's a shame its effect is damaged by scaling / jpeg compression. - Jun 24 2010

Absolutely. I've been loving it! (And yes, I have my DVD's on order! :D )

I just wish they'd given us a decent size version of this image:

Not sure why, but when I try and install from "Add Widgets" -> "Download new plasma widgets", no search brings this up.

From the looks of it I'm guessing Blender and Gimp, or equivalents. Still, I'm curious!

Love what you're trying to create, but the concept, well...

Let's think about this. The fundamental idea you're conveying is freedom and openness.

Conceptually, a box is about closing things in.

The heavy back surrounding everything increases the claustraphobic feeling even more.

Fundamentally you need a logo that is light background with open, lines that *don't* box anything in. - Jun 18 2009

The up arrow, most logically would be expected to move the user up one folder level.

Obviously it doesn't.

Right now, it confuses users (I've seen) by taking them to the plasmoids "home" folder (usually their home directory).

A far more logical / UI consistent icon to use would be the "Home" icon. This is universally understood from people using browsers.

All it needs is changing the icon name. Doesn't get much easier than that! :) - Jun 18 2009
