But when I am trying to play any stream, it crashes the plasma-desktop. For example when I am trying the play the default radio station already provided with the plasmoid, the plasma desktop restarts.
Can you please suggest any solution?

Will it be possible to add the record feature also to this great plasmoid?
I think that will be very useful. - Sep 27 2010

The only workaround that I can suggest is you may please try some other provider for your location.
For example, when I am trying wunderground, it's at least showing the temp and forecast (some icons are missing in the forecast).
Though I am missing the map here but at least it is showing the temp.
Hope that it works for you too. - Sep 19 2010

When I am clicking the play for the first time, it starts playing - this is correct. But then if I press the play button again then it restarts the current stations.
I have not tested this on desktop. I am running the plasmoid on Panel as mentioned earlier. Is this may be the cause of the problem? - Sep 14 2010

Plasma 4 Extensions by 1Slarti1 30 comments
Yes being the first release, this plasmoid is already working great for me.
About c) I actually meant changing the station - forward backword but the second option that you have written is also very useful.
In fact I was about to suggest that if we can show the song name, artist / stream details as a scroller that will be great.
If we have to decide one from the above options, I would then go for showing the stream details as a scroller because in any case we can forward/backward station by pop-up (when you implement that feature later).
About d) I generally like some local stations, which I have already added.
Thanks again for such a great plasmoid. - Sep 14 2010

The Play button may be made into a play/stop toggle button, so that clicking on the stop button allows the user to stop the music. - Sep 14 2010

This is working good at my system. Was able to add stream, increase/decrease volume by scrolling. Stations are playing well.
Just a few minor suggestions for you to kindly consider :
a) On my system (KDE 4.5.1/Kubuntu 10.10 beta), the widget when added on kde panel looks like positioned a little at the lower half of the panel; thus making the icons (play, forward, backward), lower half cut down. Only if I make the panel bigger then it fits.
I am not sure whether this is designed for panel or not. If not, then I think, we can have it in panel easily with a little bit of space adjustment.
b) The volume increase/decrease is working only if I scroll over the play button. Can we make it work with a little more radius? That means if scrolled somewhere around the play button then also it can work.
c) Like the volume scrolling, can we also expect similar feature for stations? That means scrolling over the stations should roll the station names.
d) You may think of adding some pre-defined stations to the script so that one can start right-away upon installing.
The above were just my suggestions. This is already an excellent plasmoid and I am sure will be liked by many. No need to load a full player for playing streaming music. - Sep 14 2010

The problem is since today I am getting zero degree temp for my location. When I am entering the location and pressing Ok it is correctly fetching the temp and for few few seconds the temp is showing correctly but then when the spinner goes off the temp becomes zero.
Tried with different locations - result is same. Though the map is showing correctly.
Tried by downloading from here and later also compiled yawp from svn and it installed without error.
Another thing that I noted was, under settings, Distance, pressure etc. combo box can't be chosen. All Nothing happens if I click on them.
Need your help please to fix this. - Sep 13 2010

I tried to install by downloading the plasmoid but could not install. Similarly I tried to install from normal "add widget > Download ..." method. But for that too it is giving error.
Trying to install from command prompt giving the following error
"plasmapkg(10017)/libplasma Plasma::PackageStructurePrivate::createPackageMetadata: No metadata file in the package, expected it at: ""
plasmapkg(10017)/libplasma Plasma::PackageStructurePrivate::createPackageMetadata: No metadata file in the package, expected it at: ""
Looks like there has been some recent change happened in the plasma engine because many more plasmoid are not getting installed too.
Please help. - Sep 13 2010

I was waiting to have something similar to this. Will eagerly wait for the first release.
Just one suggestion : Can we resize it? For me the height looks little bigger because many users will have other plasmoids on the desktop. If this is a plasmoid type then I am sure we can resize it. - Dec 11 2009

There is one problem though - I noticed that in firefox 3, for radio buttons the texts are too close to the radio button.
Screenshot here : http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshoth.png
I am not sure whether it has anything to do with the theme or not, but if I change the theme to some other one then the problem goes away.
May be this is a problem at end. - Feb 25 2009

I am not sure about the feasibility part of adding the 'record' option, but if that can be done, it will be simply great to have it.
I think it can be added as an option, so that if it causes any problem users can simply uncheck the option and contine enjoying Radio Screenlet. - May 14 2008

I have been looking around for an alternative to Gnome Main Menu. I feel this is a great solution to it.
Only one question. Presently the Menu Screenlet is showing up just behind the Start Panel bar. Thus it seems it is hiding. Can I show it on top of the panel just like normal menu applet is shown on the Panel? - Feb 07 2008

This is really great work. The idea is very good. You have done a great job in preparing this.
I need your help in solving a problem. While using the desklet I have noted the following.
a) In the earlier version I was not getting the memory. But with the update I am now getting the white bar. But the problem remains same. It is always showing
ram:0%
swap:0%
b) Being a new user I could not find any Compiz desklets for top 5 processes in compiz desklets section. May I request you to develop one where top 5 processes are shown.
Great work.
Thanks,

I will be eagerly looking forward to the weather module and your planned work as per the Kore style. If you can manage time then I think adding the top-processes module will be a great addition too.
Thanks for your great effort and all the best for future developments. - Sep 04 2007

Actually I was looking for something which can be used like a Sidebar and I feel this is the one.
I have a suggestion here. But before going into that I must say I have no idea whether or not the suggestions are feasible. These are just my ideas.
a) Will it be possible to change the backgrounds and the text size or font?
b) Similarly can I change the feed source in the RSS module?
c) Is it possible to add a weather module?
I will again say that this is a great work.
Thanks. - Sep 04 2007
