I'm not such an expert, so I'm not able saying where's the problem... at least not at once. But it's quite interesting.

Let's see:
1) I've got the kernel headers installed
2) you're using the 2.6.7 kernel.

Well, I'm with 2.6.3.
I have looked at the source code. Seems that this is an include statement. It seems to me that it cannot find the cdrom.h file in the include dir. This file should be part of the kernel headers. (Yep! That's the third requirement of kxplayer that I forgot to write).
At this point I've got several ideas:
1) no kernel headers
2) kernel headers (esp. cdrom.h) not readable (user has no read access)
3) something in kernel is changed since 2.6.3

Anyone else having problems???
Not that I can solve them. Just curious! - Mar 07 2005
Well I had some terrible time with gstreamer whn trying to compile amarok,
Besides kxplayer is very close with xine right now.
But I promise to do some thinking about gstreamer! :) - Mar 05 2005
Well, as stated on the site, one of the goals of the project (may be the major) was and is to learn programming C++ and exp. write KDE apps.
I've published kxplayer just because I tought It might be useful to someone. - Mar 05 2005

I'm on MDK 10.0 and I've got :

g++: cannot specify -o with -c or -S and multiple compilations

Is this supposed to compile on MDK 10.0?? - Feb 25 2005

The K menu realy needs a revision, though I don't agree a face lift would be enough.
I'd say the whole idea of putting all apps in a tree-like menu sucks. It's a waste of time to get to the item you need.
And besides, the current implementation of the menu also tends to clutter all the screen. So adding two or three more columns doe not matter for me - I'll have to walk my mouse through the whole screen just to start Kcalc... just like now! - Jan 22 2005

Since I've posted that I can't get system tray 2 to work with my MDK 10.0 CE, I need to make an update:
The latest version (0.5) works for me - it can hide icons, though it resets the priorities, I set.
Oh! One more thing - one of the pages in the preferences dialog does not look OK - the widget does not expand. Not a great problem! - Dec 17 2004
That new version seems not to be able hinding anything on my KDE 3.2 (Mandrake 10.0 CE)... and I was stupid enough to erase the old versions, after installing them.
Can I get the previous version from somewhere?? - Dec 03 2004
First of all, don't you have the feeling that the preferences dialog is getting crowded with options?
As for the sliding option, I think it is just too slow for use. May be you should add a slider for the user to set up the speed.
And I see that the unhiding and the hiding are visualy different. I mean, when I am unhiding the tray, I can see the icons while it is expanding, but when I'm hiding it the icons dissapear and I watch a nearly-empty tray to collapse. Well, it's not a great issue.
Another thing is bothering me - I tried mark/unmark the "flat button" checkbox, but I can see no change in the button. Is this implementet?? - Nov 15 2004
I was with the old one.
It works OK now... almost.
It just needs a little bit of polishing ;) - Nov 14 2004
I don't think this has something to do with "hiding complexity"... you'd rather say that it's "freeing some space in kicker"
If the complexity you'd better blaim KDE for that - Nov 13 2004
First of all, I should say it's great to have something like this.

I can't see your program to remember the state ot the different apps for use in the next session. Thus when restarting KDE, I chould set it up again. And that is annoying

I think it's a good idea to use a better artwork for the button (KImageButton probably), and add some eye-candy hover effects.

Oh, and if you publish a pot file, I'll try finding some free time to do a bulgarian translation... - Nov 12 2004

The idea is just like VRDeveloper said:
To clear out the options one will never or seldom use from the main menu, and second - to minimize the movements with the mouse (my MDK has two levels of sub menus, so when trying to reach an app, I have to open menus cowering at least half the width of my screen).
This is a simplified menu for mortable users. It does not intend to satisfy the requirements of power users. - Sep 21 2004
