I haven't had a chance to test the Dutch translation yet, but I suspect it doesn't include a translation for all phrases, which will result in breakage.

To get back to where you were before, you will need to delete the file:

~/.superkaramba/liquid_weather.rc

You should then be ok.

I suggest you take a deep breath. Then, stop compiling and installing stuff, and think about what you are doing.

Generally speaking, on mandrake, if you can't compile stuff, that means that you need to install the relevant -devel rpm. So if the configure script says you need libpython >= 2.3.4, you search for (usually on rpmfind.net, or via urpmi) the libpython-devel package for YOUR distro version. Keep doing this for each error, until you can run the configure script without error.

The second thing to know about Mandrake is that it puts kde in a non-standard place, and you have to tell the configure script where to put kde related applications. So you use:

./configure --prefix=/usr

That is why the superkaramba.desktop file is not working.

I would suggest you back out python 2.4 by using the rpm -e command, and also the other rpm's you have installed. Then start with the superkaramba 0.35 source, and follow the above instructions.

Normally urpmi works very well for Mandrake. However, if you ever have to compile a kde application from source, it is important to know the ./configure --prefix=/usr trick, otherwise you are in trouble.

If you have any more trouble, ask on the forums at netdragon.sourceforge.net. I'm sure someone will have a link to an rpm that you could probably just install.

I think it's ISO-8859-1. I have to say, I don't know alot about UTF-8 and character encoding. I'm not sure how superkaramba impliments it, and I am currently in dialog with the developers to see how character encoding can be improved, without having to resort to the current approach, which is simply unworkable for dynamic text creation. Some people did a polish RSS feed theme a while back, and I'm having a look at that code, but I need a bit of time to work things out. If anyone who understands these things a bit better than me wants to educate me, then I'm all ears.

I've got this running via konstruct. Is the translucency you've got there from kde 3.4, or are you using something else? I can't find anywhere in kde3.4 to set window translucency.

Help appreciated.

This menu item does not do what you are talking about. Some cities have two names at weather.com, and this option displays the secondary name for that city. It doesn't allow you to have weather for more than on city.

Weather.com does not allow displaying more than one city's weather in any application using its xml feed. Therefore I cannot implement this feature.

You could run several instances of liquid weather, but you'll need to have separate liquid_weather_plus directories, and rename the .theme and .py files to something else for it to work.

It means that you need to compile superkaramba against the version of python that you have on your computer. If you used a binary compiled against another version of python, this is the error you will get.

It is likely that you have installed a binary version that was not built against your version of python.

Install Superkaramba from source. Or find a binary package for your distro.

There must be more in stdout than that.

The reference to kxdocker should be a red herring. It shouldn't be blocking or affecting operation.

If it's a proxy problem, run it like this (please note that this should all be on one line):

export http_proxy='http://user:pass@proxy.url:port' && superkaramba liquid_weather.theme

See if that fixes it.
