I can't help loving that :)

Maybe one of the flat widget styles can be used to achieve something like that?

I never noticed a window decoration style like that one, but I like it.

The main problems is that KDE/Konq does not support mixing neither menubar/toolbars nor statusbar/toolbars, something that probably won't be changed (?)

I think, its a good and clean design. Okey.. the colors are a bit strange, but beatyfull. Maybe he can change them, like the hole thing in blue, or green.
Its not the crystal, aqua look alike, its something new :)

Why on earth should the scrollbar be on the left side again?

Personally I like the orange but I'm sure it's not going to be to everyone's taste.

However, you've brought up a good point which is that Konqueror could do with a few usability tweaks. It's pretty good now, certainly by comparison to Mozilla or Nautilus but I think it could benefit from a reduction in clutter - there are too many icons in the toolbars in the default config and it's not obvious enough what each one does. Similarly there are too many menus with too many options, and they're not very logically organised. It's not obvious how to enable/disable the sidebar and Konq's multi-pane MDI abilities are a complete mystery to most people, despite being extremely useful.

I'm not sure longshine addresses all of this - but it's a good start and you've given us plenty to think about.

I think the orange is a little too much.

At least, it does innovate ;-)
I like it, but the colors are a bit harsh for my personal taste ;-)

By themselves, nothing at all. There are lots of places that your combination of gray and orange would work nicely. The reason it doesn't work here is that it simply stands out too much for a user interface. There's a reason traffic signs warning drivers about construction are bright orange. The eye is drawn to it hard.

It's also one of the reasons why so many themes use a subdued blue, or a medium gray as the primary color. The artist uses a more subtle color that is able to sort of blend into the background, yet still look pleasing when taken as a whole. Bright orange just can't do that as well.

On the plus side, what you do have here is an interesting mix of interesting flat objects that blend well together. The two-tone effect is a nice touch, giving it a unique feel. There's some good stuff going on here. Overall, it just feels like you're trying to grab the eye too hard.

My eyes, it burnssssssss......

On a more serious note, a super-customizable Toolbar a la Phoenix would be nice, but I don't know if that's technically possible with the way the kparts menu/toolbars get merged with the application ones.

Ugly, but strangely beautiful
