I tried the all-in-one apollon. File named apollon-dist.run .
It ocurred an error during the "make" installing process (at the point of 10 percent). What would I did wrong? Maybe I have no requeriments for gift?
Following the last part of the log file (since i think i saw something unusual at making process), as the complete I think it's too long to paste here.

seems like that ImageMagick is missing. Install that and try it again.

I think it would be great if the all-in-one installer also included a uninstall option, it would make things much easier when trying to uninstall apollon and gift, right now I'm stuck with a half installed apollon/gift and can't get either to work, which is a shame because its a really great app.

I have all 3 of the available protocols running. The selection order is FastTrack, Gnutella and OpenFT. The 1st 2 are ok but OpenFT just shows connecting. I'm also having problems on FastTrack. Files are shown a queued but often don't get downloaded. This is what often happens on Kazaa though.
Tip: Hiting 'search for more' immediately after a search has finished often gives more results.

I ran the new all-in-one installer from within my home directory and got this message:
- The "arkollonrc" file in this directory is invalid.
Have I missed/forgotten something? Any ideas anyone?

is there a plugin supporting the eDonkey network? are there any technological difficulties in making one? if not it's really a shame... you could say I could write one, but I can't :(

anyway, great app, Gnutella and FastTrack work ok. Good job at giFT and good job at Apollon :)

I've now got Apollon up and running. It's a great piece of work.
The main problems with installation were related to loaded packages. A readme giving this info would have been extremely useful. I recieved excellent support from the Apollon team and had to run giftd the installer at the command promt.
The other problem I had related to the giFT package. On startup it copies the protocols to a hidden gift directory on the user desktop that contains one folder for each protocol. I had to create these manually. Also it expects to find the .so files etc in usr/share..... folder. These were empty but a file search soon fould them and I copied them across manualy. I run suse9 prof.
On improvements: I think timeouts, acceptable queue lengths and scan for new sources timing etc should be made available to the user. A search for more after the search has just timed out often reveals a lot more sources. This isn't unusual on other peer to peer packages. I'm not sure why. The ability to edit the hostile ip address list might also be useful but I expect these keep changing in anycase.

Apollon starts with connection error and says: gitf daemon don't start, try to run in terminal he giftd command.

I done it and get the following:
giftd: error while loading shared libraries: libgift.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Report

Try and locate libgift.so. it could be in /usr/lib or /usr/local/lib depending on where it was installed. Once you find it, make a symlink to it by issuing the command in the konsole (make sure you're in the correct directory)

ln -sf libgift.so libgift.so.0

Once thats done type ldconfig
and try and run apollon again. It should fix things :) Good luck

Running make on apollon gives this:

main.cpp:38: error: `FirstRunWizard' undeclared (first use this function)

Same error with installer and building from source. I managed (by '//':) to compile main.cpp, but then it gives me other compile errors...

Running fedora with kde3.2.1 any ideas?

from some reason uic didn't build the sources of the ui-files.

is uic in $QTDIR/bin and is $QTDIR/bin in $PATH?

you might try that:

uic firstrun.ui -o firstrun.h
uic firstrun.ui -i firstrun.h -o firstrun.cpp

and the same with preferences.ui

I compiled apollon from source on Fedora with KDE 3.2.1, and I get no icons. Apart from that it compiles and functions correctly.

I have the same problem with 0.9.2, but only since upgrading to KDE 3.2. Before that all the icons were there.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

is apollon installed in $KDEDIR?

make sure KDEDIR is set to /path/to/kde3 and re-run configure and do "make install" again.

Report

Thanks, I checked $KDEDIR, but it's already set to /usr which is where KDE is installed in Fedora. This is the same directory that I pass as --prefix= when I configure.

Any more suggestions?

I'm beginning to think that Fedora have messed up their icons directory in the upgrade to KDE 3.2.1, so I'm hoping it'll work correctly again when Fedora Core 2 is released.

It says that it is connected however, I can't get any results. Everytime I search, it instantly says Finished, 0.
I select "everything," enter a word in the next field, press "enter" on the keyboard... nothing... nada.

Am I doing something wrong?
