The author of "The March of the Penguins" is not the National Geographic but Luc Jacquet (c.f. http://www.noblepr.co.uk/Press_Releases/warner/motp.htm).

Note that the film has been reworked a lot for its diffusion in the United States and is quite different from its original french version (all the initial dialogs have been replaced by a commentary). This makes it more like a 'classical' (but often very good) documentary of the National Geographic, which may explain the confusion.
