This Emerald Theme intends to give an original theme, with glow and backlight, but very soft on the eye.
Color Schemes and look have been chosen to fit well with the new lila color scheme used in KDE in Kubuntu Edgy.
I've created two similar theme for Gnome Ubuntu users and Brown/Orange/Chocolate lovers, that fits really well with ubuntu Edgy (and Dapper) color scheme. If these theme suits you better, please see the EdgyGHotGlow and EdgyGHotGlow-Chocolate theme.
Of course you can use this theme under Gnome and in any GNU/Linux distro using Beryl/AIGLX.
The glow and back light effect provides a good way of focusing on the current app and giving it an original and modern look.
You have the possibility to change the buttons position in emerald theme manager (I highly prefer the buttons at left like in Mac OSX, because I think it's far better in terms of usability).
Hope you'll like it ! Enjoy and feel free to modify this theme provided that you give me credit for original work, it's GPL !

If I have enough time I will release a similar theme using Ubuntu Edgy brown palette to fit well under Gnome Ubuntu classic color scheme ;)

For the LILA color, it's a matter of taste but I think it's a really relaxing color (furthermore, this color is used in Kubuntu Edgy by default and may be used in KDE 4 )
Cheers.
